About the Environmental Informatics research group
The research group is formed around the professorship of environmental planning and management information technology in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Aalto University.
The group aims to develop methods and technologies based in computer and information science, and in information technology for civil and environmental engineering and environmental planning and management, often focusing on geospatial. We collaborate with specialists in environmental science, biology, geography, and various branches of computer and information science. The idea is to carry out research in the emerging area of distributed and multi-disciplinary problem solving where old and new modelling tools and methods meet rapidly developing information technology and methods.
